One of the first models Chloe worked with back in 1992 was the underrated Magda Garbanowski from Poland. Along with Michelle Willings and a Dutch model named Jill, they traveled to Japan with a British photo team. Upon arriving in Tokyo, they were greeted by two local models, Kaiko and Yuko.
“She relied purely on instinct,” recalled photographer John Graham. “I would say, ‘Chloe, look sexy!’ and she’d give me this confused, funny look. Then, she’d do something as innocent as eating a watermelon, and everyone around the pool would suddenly be turned on. I realized that with Chloe, the only instruction she needed was where and when to show up. She took care of the rest.”
While Chloe went on to have a hugely successful career, Magda disappeared after her few shoots in London and Tokyo.
In photos, the height difference between Magda and Chloe is clear—Magda stood much taller. Chloe often took on a dominant role in her girl-girl scenes, but with Magda, there was an equal exchange of intimacy, with shared kisses, nipples, and sensual exploration.
